JOSÉ LUTRELL

We met José Luttrell from Abu Coffee and were blown away with his work ethic.

José is a man on a mission. A hustler. A doer. He makes things happen. He's definitely got some pirate in him. 🏴‍☠️

Just 2 days after chatting with him on the phone, he met up with us and arranged a cupping of his legendary geisha coffees. Watch the moment below, when we cupped his coffee.

We immediately purchased the coffee via direct trade via our sister company WE THE ORIGIN.

ABU COFFEE

Abu Coffee Panama Geisha

Abu Coffee was named to honor the memory of José Guillermo Luttrell Tedman, a third generation coffee producer from the Cañas Verdes region of Boquete, Chiriquí in Panama.

"ABU" (short for Abuelo, grandfather in Spanish) is what his grandchildren used to call him. His dream was to achieve the best cup of coffee with the highest standards of quality. Abu Coffee continues to live this dream by producing some of the most incredible and unique coffees available not only in Panama, but globally.

Abu Coffee is a regular in the legendary Best of Panama competitions:

  • 2020 BOP: 11th in Natural Geisha (91.75)
