ABOUT ELIDA ESTATE
Thee farm, located in the Alto Quiel region of Boquete at elevations ranging from 1,670 to 1,950 meters, spans 65 hectares—30 hectares dedicated to coffee and 35 preserved as virgin forest reserve. With deep sandy‑loam soils, annual rainfall of about 2,400 mm, and a rainy season from May to November, the environment supports specialized shade‑grown production surrounded by rich cloud‑forest biodiversity, including native plants, birds, and mammals such as the Quetzal and jaguar.

The coffee is planted at a density of 4,000 trees per hectare, with one lot containing 40‑year‑old trees and the remainder around five years old, and consists of Geisha (10%), Catuai (80%), and Typica (10%). Flowering occurs four to five times between March and May, influenced by high sun intensity from late February to early May and unusual foggy, misty conditions during the early dry season. Milling takes place from January to April. Fertilization is applied by hand two to three times per year using chemical fertilizers, with no insecticides or herbicides used and fungicide applied twice annually. The farm also maintains strong conservation practices, planting native shade trees that support bird populations and operating as a sanctuary for exotic wildlife. Labor is primarily provided by the Nögbe community, with the owner sponsoring housing, cooking facilities, meals for children, and a school, ensuring meaningful social support alongside agricultural stewardship.
