We're always excited to receive new coffee from our Colombian producer partner, Equation Coffee.

This single origin offering from Tolima brings everything we look for in washed Colombian coffees: a sweet and clean cup that has the perfect balance of chocolate, nuts and fruit.

El Pirata is a versatile single origin coffee that hits the spot for both casual coffee drinkers as well as coffee connoisseurs.

Enjoy it as filter or espresso and with milk or milk alternatives. 

It was produced by Tres Rayas Cooperative in Tolima, Colombia and is a part of the Starts with Soil initiative by Equation Coffee which provides support to Colombian coffee farmers.

Pirates of Coffee is the first Canadian roaster to support Starts with Soil by featuring their coffee and we are proud of it. 

About Starts with Soil

Starts with Soil is a new initiative from Equation Coffee that provides $0.03/lb back to farmers in the form of agricultural support by focusing on:

• Crop diversification based on agroforestry designs
• Decreasing dependency on external inputs, such as chemical fertilizers
• Improving organic matter
• Increasing net income

We hope these regenerative agricultural practices will help farmers in Tolima, Colombia to develop more sustainable coffee production.
