Acai is a Wush Wush varietal produced by Sebastian Ramirez from El Placer Colombia.

It's the second coffee in our Loco Series (the first one was Smoothie), where we celebrate the crazy coffees coming out of Colombia.

We got to spend some time with Sebastian during our trip to Colombia earlier this year and this is our second year working with him. He produced this unique lot with a carbonic maceration natural process.

Cup score:  90.25 ☕ 

This coffee stood out among a table full of other loco coffees for the unique taste and aroma of acai berries! We were blown away at just how flavourful yet sweet and balanced this coffee was.


Similar to the more well known geisha varietal, the exotic Wush Wush varietal was also first discovered in Ethiopia, named after the coffee growing region Wushwush in Ethiopia. It was was taken to Colombia 30 years ago.

Wush Wush is a low-yield varietal that is known for its fruity and unconventionally refreshing taste profile. It's like juice!


Finca El Placer is owned by a 4th Generation Coffee Producer Sebastian Ramirez. He has been running his family estate for over a decade. Finca El Placer means "The Pleasure Farm" in English. It is located in the heart of El Eje Cafetero (The Coffee Region) in Calarca, Quindio. We recently had a chance to visit that area. Check out our video on Instagram. Sebastián uses natural, washed and honey processes and all varieties undergo carbonic maceration. He utilizes a microbiology lab to develop innovative and specialty coffees.

The Farm focuses on sustainable farming by prioritizing soil health, weed removal and avoiding herbicides. Their main goal is to increase the cup quality by practicing healthy farming techniques. Sebastián also supports Bienestar Animal, a foundation that cared for abandoned animals and has adopted several rescued animals, giving them a new home at his farm.
