PURPLE HAZE: Ethiopia Gesha Village Lot 22/043

This fruit-forward and perfumey coffee comes from one of our most cherished producers in Ethiopia: Gesha Village Coffee Estate. 

The cup experience consists of elegant purple fruits with sweet aromatics of Lavender and Lilac, which makes for a very uplifting and tea-like experience from start to finish. 

It is a naturally processed Illubabor Forest varietal, which is rare and exotic and can only be found at Gesha Village in Ethiopia.

The signature elements of coffees from Gesha Village are intense floral and fruity flavours, and this naturally processed Illubabor Forest lives up to this reputation. 

The farm is in close vicinity to the Gori Gesha forest which is the birthplace of the Gesha Varietal in Ethiopia. Gesha Village Farm is divided into 8 different zones, Purple Haze comes from Gaylee Zone. Our first two releases from Gesha Village Coffee Estate were Oma Gesha which was from Oma Zone and Gesha Village which also was from Gaylee Zone. 

For this release, we've teamed up with our friends and local roasters at Morning Roast again. The coffee was imported by Forward Coffee. We love how the specialty coffee community in Canada is so tight-knit, and we're excited to work on this collab. 

ABOUT GESHA VILLAGE

Gesha Village Coffee Estate is a 471 hectare Coffee farm in the Bench Maji zone of Ethiopia. Gesha Village started off in 2007 as a project to make a documentary on Ethiopian coffee. The idea to start coffee farming in Ethiopia quickly came into their conversations shortly afterwards. 

After a long search they found an untouched piece of land with the perfect conditions to grow coffee near the Gori Gesha forest, which is a site of Panamian Geisha Discovery in the 1930's. They worked tirelessly to convert this piece of land to a fully operational farm and started cultivating wild Gesha plants from the Gori Gesha Forest.
